Users of Excel 2008 that rely on such analytical functions naturally have been pining for ATP's return. The Analysis Tool Pack (ATP), an optional add-on for Excel 2004, has 19 statistical and mathematical analysis functions built-in, including variance, linear regression, F, T, and Z-tests, histogram generation, and more. The Mac Business Unit at Microsoft worked with Frontline Systems to bring Solver back last summer, and, according to the Mac Excel team's Gavin Shearer, the Analysis Tool Pack is set for a comeback any day now.
Besides the many custom macros that would no longer work, important add-ons, like Solver and Analysis Tool Pack, also got left out.
The loss of VBA scripting from Office for Mac 2008 was especially hard on Excel.
